DEVDAS a famous Indian novel of all times, it was written by SaratchandraChattopadhyay, this novel had been filmed by different film makers, Devdas movies had always attracted many audiences in the Bollywood movies history. However I am going to share my thoughts and feelings about the movie “Devdas” made by well known and reputable director Sanjay LeelaBhansali. Bhansali is a big name. He proved his mark and earned his name many fold with the direction of Devdas. Ismail Darbar and Monty Sharma had given new horizons and heights to classical music; I am talking about music composition of Devdas. Both of them did a great job. We would love to remember it.
The movie starts with an elegant entry of Devdas (Shahrukh Khan) who had returned from London, Deva belongs to powerful and effluent family of the city in the movie. Paro belongs to less privileged family. Both the families live close to each other all along. Paro(AishwaryaRai) was so obsessed and happy with his return; words cant narrate her feelings. It feels that whole world is singing with her. Paro having stunning and drizzling look in the movie; her eyes looked so dashing and attractive, it is hard to tell worth watching it instead. Both Deva and Paro was childhood lover whereas Deva didn’t pay attention to her in the beginning. While Paro was dreaming him all time. And finally social class boundaries proved a biggest hurdle between them. Deva s family rejected badly Paro s proposal of marrying with Deva. They insulted her mother. She took revenge and made Paro agree to marry with another landlord but old man. Deva who had spent 10 years in London, was grown up with different mindset, he didn’t accept the things as it is. Deva took it seriously and made himself life threatening alcoholic addict. You can’t stop yourself from crying while watching him. It seemed only relief for his life was death.
We can’t forget Chandremukhi(MadhoriDixt) and ChunniBabo( JeckeySharof) roles. Chandremukhi s acting in movie is superb and breathtaking. She looked amazing with her super styles and acting spirit. She fell in love with Deva, who had already sacrificed his entire life in the love of Paro. She had surrendered herself to win his heart. But all her efforts to bring comfort and relief in heartbroken Deva s life proved useless.
ChunniBabu is another interesting and entertaining character of the movie, yes, he would make you smile and think meantime with his dialogues. He acted very well. He would definitely make you speechless. He helped Deva to reach his final destination. Deva gave his life while crying Parooooo. The movie ended with it but it spreads a strong message that there is no end of love, the technical aspect of movie is also perfect; it is quite heavy budgeted movies. Costumes, sets and designs are wonderful. The songs and sentiments are beautifully played.
